The Kuopio Medicines Information Centre (KMIC), Proversa Ltd and Orfer Ltd join forces to develop new community pharmacy services based on patient counseling and medication information over the internet.

Internet pharmacy service and remote controlled pharmacy terminal gives a new solution on the challenges regarding availability of pharmacy and pharmaceutical information services.

Controlled by independent community pharmacies, the aim for new services is to make pharmacy services available on rural areas and around the clock. With every customer transaction safety is taken into consideration with on-line counseling by trained pharmacists from KMIC via video feed and audio connection.

New services will be piloted autumn 2008 and are widely available in Finland from early 2009 depending on the approval by Finnish medical authorities.
